Congrats Cox and Cort... you've been mentioned by ABC news

Wow! It's been a while since we posted. Unfortunately, we have to work for a living and sometimes life gets in the way.

Obviously there has been a lot to write about, but every blog that covers politics has already written it, so we don't have to. Having said that, we are fans of long-shot presidential candidates, not because we think they can win but because our founding fathers thought everyone should be able to participate. And we do admire some of these long-shots for working hard and participating, even if they can't win.

So..... First, congratulations to John Cox and Dr. Hugh Cort. You both have been hoping for mentions in the national media and you got it. You both made the ABC News Blog! ABC News has referred to both of you as "somewhat fringe GOP candidates."

Fortunately, you can both forget about that and tell your supporters to go to the Baltimore Sun, they were nice and simply called you candidates. Certainly there are other articles to point to but, like we said, we have to earn a living so why waste time finding more articles.

But wait.... Didn't John Cox drop out of the race in a speech at the Iowa GOP's Reagan Dinner? According to the Baltimore Sun he did. If you don't feel like following the link, here's what the Sun reports Cox said:

Meanwhile, Chicago businessman John Cox, a little-regarded long-shot candidate who has run but failed in bids for local office, used his time before the audience to concede defeat in the contest.

Blaming the national media for giving him scant attention, Cox said, "I've been doubting my own existence in the last few months" and he assessed his chances as being "about as strong as the Cubs chances of winning the World Series." He said he would soon return home and start a political action committee to promote non-career politicians.

So, who knows if Cox is really out or if he is still in? We do know Cort is still in because unlike Cox, he filed in New Hampshire and rumor has it he is circulating nominating petitions in Alabama and Virginia. Time will tell.
