What? Is he a Democrat now?
According to Tuesday's Boston Globe, GOP presidential hopeful, Senator Sam Brownback wants Congress to apologize for slavery.
Brownback told the Globe's editorial board that he will join an unnamed Democrat in sponsoring the proposal. He went on to say he expects a tough fight on the resolution. No kidding! He should expect a tough fight staying in the presidential race until the Iowa caucuses with talk like that.
It's bad enough he teamed up with Democrat presidential hopeful Senator Joe Biden in pushing a proposal for a federal system in Iraq a few days before this slavery thing but he also praised Senator Kennedy for "helping lead the push for the immigration bill."
In our opinion, if he wants to work with Biden, praise Kennedy and apologize for slavery (something no one we know had anything to do with) he might as well go and join the Democrats in their party.
Seriously, apologize for slavery. Is he nuts? Not one member of Congress had anything to do with it, well, okay Senator Byrd might be old enough to remember slavery. Not one person alive in this country had anything to do with slavery.
Should we apologize for the Hindenburg blowing up? Should we apologize for winning the Revolutionary War?
