An article in the Des Moines Register states that Fred Thompson is touting his status as an outsider.

An outsider? How can he even try to make that claim, senator, lobbyist and lawyer makes him not an outsider. We aren't anti Thompson, we simply want people in our own party to stop trying to be something they are not.

Seriously, every candidate in this race (except Ron Paul) is trying to be Ronald Reagan, Abe Lincoln and Mother Theresa all wrapped in one. Frankly, we're sick of hearing "we need another Reagan" we want a genuine conservative. We want a conservative who doesn't try to pretend to be something or someone they aren't. And, perhaps most importantly, we want a conservative who has a REAL plan to win the Iraq War and the War on Terror.

Is that too much to ask?
