Racism in Tennessee
According to Yahoo News, Congressman Steve Cohen (D-Memphis) is facing a movement led by black pastors and political activists to defeat him in 2008 and send a black representative to Washington instead.
Sounds racist to us. Seriously, for a group of pastors to try to oust a man because of the color of his skin is plain wrong. Did these pastors read their Bibles? If they did perhaps someone should remind them: thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
"He's not black, and he can't represent me. That's the bottom line," the Rev. Robert Poindexter told a local newspaper. What a joke! Imagine what would happen if the roles were reversed and a white man said something like that about a black man? Then again, George Bush sent a hurricane to New Orleans because he hates black people.
Hopefully the next time the entire Republican Party is accused of being racists people will remember what is happening in Tennessee.
